How can we help?
Write to support@usevoltz.app, in English or Portuguese.
Or find your answer in the questions below.
Help that never needs your keys.
What support does
- Answers questions about the app and how to use it.
- Helps with your Lightning address, on usevoltz.app or on your own domain.
- Looks into anything in the app that did not work as it should.
- Deletes, when you ask, what the Lightning address service keeps about your wallet, as the privacy policy describes.
What support never does
- Asks for your recovery words, your passphrase or your PIN. Whoever asks for them is not Voltz.
- Opens a wallet without its recovery words. Voltz never has a copy of them, so no one can open your wallet for you.
- Moves your money, freezes it or reverses a payment. No payment leaves without your keys' signature, and they are never sent to Voltz or to anyone else.
When you write, say what you were doing and what the app showed. A screenshot helps, as long as it shows no recovery words.
F.A.Q.
- Does Voltz hold my money?
No. Your keys are created on your phone and never sent to us, and no payment leaves without their signature.
- What if I lose my phone?
With your recovery words you open the same wallet on another phone.
- How do I restore my wallet on a new phone?
Open Voltz on the new phone, tap ‘I already have a wallet’ and enter your 12 or 24 recovery words in order, with your passphrase if you added one. Before it restores, the app shows the wallet's ID, the same one it showed when you wrote the words down, so you can check it is the right wallet. Your balance comes back, and so does your Lightning address as long as the service behind it is answering. The PIN and the wallet's name and photo are kept only on the phone, so you set them again.
- What is the passphrase, and what if I forget it?
An optional secret of your own that the app adds to your recovery words when you create or restore a wallet. The same words with a different passphrase open a different wallet, empty and with no warning. If you forget it, no one can open your wallet again, not even with the recovery words, so keep it as safe as the words and apart from them.
- Which networks does Voltz use?
Spark, Lightning and on-chain Bitcoin, through the Breez SDK Spark inside the app. With an amount, one Bitcoin QR code can be paid over Lightning or on-chain. USDT and USDC go out to and come in from Tron, Ethereum, Solana and other chains through Orchestra, run by Flashnet, landing in your wallet as bitcoin or digital dollars.
- How do I see what a payment costs before I send it?
The review before you confirm shows the network, the fee and the total. On-chain you also pick a speed, and the fee is split into the Bitcoin network's part and Spark's. When that fee is an estimate, the review says so, and you never pay more than it shows.
- Does Voltz take a cut of my payments?
No. Voltz's revenue comes from its software, never from a spread on a payment or a conversion. The fees the app shows belong to the network or to the provider doing the work.
- Why is an on-chain payment pending?
Bitcoin sent to your on-chain address reaches your balance through Spark, and claiming it there has a fee. The app claims it on its own while that fee is small. When it is not, the payment waits under Pending funds, which shows what claiming it now costs, and you decide when to claim it.
- Can I change my Lightning address or put it on my own domain?
Yes. Your wallet comes with a free address. Under Lightning address in the app you can choose a name of your own, and each name you choose is paid for once, change the name once a day and move the address to another wallet on the same phone. You can also put it on a domain you already own, with one DNS record, a CNAME, created where the domain is hosted, and the service on that domain is paid for yearly. The app shows the amount before you pay. The domain stays yours, and the people you work with can have their own address on it too.
- What can the Lightning address service see?
It never receives your keys, and it cannot spend, freeze or seize your balance. It does see which wallet holds which address, the payments made through that address, the comment a payer attaches and the device registered for notifications. If it were compromised, it could hand a payer someone else's invoice, stop serving an address, or send or hold back its notifications.
- What happens if the Lightning address service is down?
Payments to your Lightning address fail until it is back, because the payer's wallet cannot get an invoice. Your balance and your sends keep working, and so do the other ways to receive, a Spark address, a Bitcoin address or a Lightning invoice with an amount, since none of them goes through that service. Sends also depend on the operators of the Spark network, who take part in every payment. They cannot move your balance on their own, but they can delay or refuse an operation, and the app does not yet offer the unilateral exit, which takes the balance out of Spark without depending on them.
- Can I hold digital dollars?
Yes, as USDB, a digital dollar on the Spark network, next to your bitcoin. It is issued by a third party, aims to be worth one US dollar, is not guaranteed by Voltz and can lose its peg. Converting between the two happens in a Flashnet pool, is signed on your phone, and Voltz is not a party to it.
- What is the dollar wallet?
A setting that keeps your balance in USDB, a digital dollar on Spark, so bitcoin's swings do not reach it. USDB follows the dollar, not bitcoin, and carries risks of its own, such as its issuer's and losing its peg. Turning it on converts your bitcoin balance, turning it off converts it back, and what you receive turns into USDB on its own once your balance in sats passes a minimum. While it is on, the app does not send bitcoin on-chain, so turn it off first for that.
- How do I receive USDT or USDC?
On Receive, pick the coin and its network, enter the amount and send exactly that to the address the app shows, before its quote runs out. The address serves that one payment and that network only, and a coin sent on another network may be lost for good. Orchestra, run by Flashnet, then pays it into your wallet as bitcoin, or as USDB when the dollar wallet is on.
- I bought bitcoin in the app. Who can help with the purchase?
MoonPay. The purchase happens on MoonPay's own checkout, which takes the payment, runs any identity check it needs and sends the bitcoin straight to your wallet's own address. Voltz never sees the money, so how a purchase is going is for MoonPay to answer.
- How do I delete my data?
Your wallet lives on your phone. Removing a wallet in the app erases its recovery words from the phone, so write them down first if you may need that wallet again. To have the Lightning address service delete what it keeps about your wallet, write to support@usevoltz.app, as the privacy policy describes. You do not need the app for that.
- When can I get Voltz?
It is not in the stores yet. Voltz is coming to the App Store and Google Play, for iOS and Android.
